I am an active, fit, curious, lifetime British hiker living in the Netherlands. As an ex-teacher educator who retired in 2024, long-distance hiking has taken a more front-seat place in my life recently. I have enjoyed trails including the Torres del Paine O hike in Chile, the Cordillera Huayhuash and Machu Picchu in Peru, the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal, the Beara Way in Ireland, the Lycian Way in Turkey, the Saint Benedict Way in Italy and the Peaks of the Balkans (Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo). I like writing slow, purposeful travel pieces for the older female solo traveller – like me.
